Job Posting

Dear Hiring Manager,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my cover letter. Over the last four years I have spent countless hours learning the skills required to be a strong and effective organizer. Having the opportunity to organize with SEIU would be a dream come true, allowing me to use the skills that I learned both in the classroom and through my time organizing to help make real change.

Through work field organizing with Amnesty International I learned how to communicate nuanced issues, like those of work place labor rights, with people from a variety of backgrounds. I gained the ability to meet people where they were at, and help them to understand how collective organizing could help to make a more equitable and just world.

In my time doing labor organizing on the UW Seattle and Bothell campuses with UAW 4121, the Bridges Labor Center, and the UWB Labor Colloquium, I gained the ability invaluable knowledge about the function of labor organizing. During the 2024 ASE strike, my role working with labor organizations on both campuses provided me insight into how labor organizations effectively communicate across multiple work sites and what tactics can be employed to effectively mobilize large swaths of workers. My time working in labor on the UW campuses also provided me with the skills necessary to build strong coalitions between different labor organizations as well as labor organizations and the broader community. In my role as the Community Fellow, I helped to build connections with organizers across the county, teaching me not only how to foster these connections, but also how to ensure that they are maintained and beneficial for all parties.

I believe that these skills, along with the ones I have learned at my time in university will allow me to be an excellent union organizer.
